Testimonials

“Life is pretty crazy for us right now, so we appreciate the time the Begin with the Children plan forces us to take to be more deliberate in our parenting.”

-The Arun and Mariah Bernard Family, enrolled since May 2016

We Are Unique

The U.S. and Canada are unique societies with many nationalities in their respective societal melting pots. Like the societies we serve, our Begin with the Children (BWC) Parenting Program is unique in these ways:

  • We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational institution. BWC’s program runs from the prenatal period until your child graduates from high school. The course is free.

  • Our teaching system is synchronized with the Six Stages of Parenthood. Our “bite-sized,” straight-to-the-point lessons gleaned and distilled from well-researched, published sources, give parents reliable information to help them upgrade their power of parenting.

  • KinderKronicle is our teaching vehicle conveying easy-to-read information pertinent to the age of your child. Read More

Our mission is to provide parents with the best parenting ideas, information, and principles available to help them become extraordinary parents rearing responsible adults. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi:

“If we are to reach real peace in this world…we shall have to begin with children.”

To accomplish this mission, our Begin with the Children parenting program begins with pregnancy and ends when the child graduates from high school. Our program uses the Six Stages of Parenthood as a unique teaching structure to provide interesting, well-researched, and age-appropriate information to parents.

Our Mission

What We Do

We “grow” ordinary parents into extraordinary parents by providing them with ideas, information, and principles to enhance their parenting attitudes, knowledge, and practices each month.

Parenting is a learned skill. Intentional parents combine a better understanding of time-tested, bedrock parenting principles with today’s well-researched best parenting practices. These parents make better leaders of productive families.

Our Begin with the Children parenting plan helps parents absorb applicable parenting skills little by little as their child grows up through our monthly, age-specific parent education materials.

Intentional, productive parents can change the dominant trend of American society away from hate and societal division toward peace, civility, and the Golden Rule. Read More

Come—join our vision of America's future with extraordinary parents!

Our Story

Our roots began with a successful Rotary Club community service project in two small villages in northeast Ohio. This service project was then refined into the Begin with the Children (BWC) parenting program and introduced at the 2008 Rotary International Convention in Los Angeles for pilot testing. 21st century research found that the ideal time for engaging parents with a program like BWC is during the magic moment immediately following birth in hospital birthing centers.

In 2014, after further refinements to our program, a regional hospital in Logan, Utah approved the introduction of BWC to parents of newborns. With an acceptance rate of about 80%, our program was well received. The program was expanded to serve several additional hospitals and as of March 1, 2020, more than 9,000 families had enrolled in BWC. Read more

How We Help Parents Grow

If you google the word “parenting" or “parenting children” you will get millions of hits. Amazon offers hundreds of books on parenting. With so many parenting voices shouting, “Do this!” “No, do this!” what’s a body to do?

Recently, the National Academy of Medicine in Washington, D.C. released a 524-page report titled Parenting Matters: Supporting Parents of Children Ages 0-8. This detailed report states that ALL PARENTS NEED SUPPORT, especially when their children are ages 0-8, and advocates for a national response. Read more

The report recommends focusing this support on:

  • Disseminating better information to enhance parental knowledge,

  • Teaching parenting skills, and

  • Discussing healthy, productive parental attitudes.

The Begin with the Children (BWC) parenting program accomplishes all three objectives.
